annual report 2015 – 2016 brand new brand At Dayton Childrenâs, we are compassionate caregivers who are transforming care for children. To highlight our innovation, renew our commitment to the community and reaffirm our mission of providing the best care for kids, we launched a new brand identity that represents these things. The inspiration for the new identity comes from Daytonâs history of innovation. The Wright Brothers were inspired when their father brought home a toy whirligig. Their awe ignited a passion that would change the world. Dayton Childrenâs passion to care for kids is just as strong. providing the right services Dayton Childrenâs continues to provide the right care, close to home, by offering new services and bringing on some of the finest physicians in the world. In the past year, we have added allergy and immunology, neuropsychology, and physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), among other new services. In fact, more than 60 physicians were hired in the past two years from the most impressive hospitals from coast-to-coast. Adding subspecialists also improves patient access to see a physician. Today, patient access is 6.7 days on average in our eight high-volume clinics. expanding the south campus Families in the southern suburbs now have more convenient access to a broader range of world-class pediatric care for their children all in one location. Dayton Childrenâs broke ground on the ambulatory destination center in August 2015 and the first phase – a specialty care center – opened this year. The expansion is based on the growing need for services in our southern communities; this area has the highest percentage of children under age 5 and the region continues to grow. In addition to the specialty care center, an emergency department opened January 3, 2017, and an outpatient surgery center will open in August 2017. patient tower, opening June 2017 In 2013, Dayton Childrenâs broke ground on a new eight-story patient tower and progress continues! The final beam of the new tower settled into place with a traditional âtopping offâ ceremony, marking another major milestone in the project which will culminate with the grand opening of the tower in June 2017. Inside, the transformed campus will welcome families through a three-story atrium filled with light, color and whimsy. Paying tribute to Daytonâs history of innovation including the birthplace of flight, the tower design and icons for each floor were selected from things that fly, both man-made and those found in nature. For nearly 50 years, our focus remains steadfast – we exist because every child deserves a great childrenâs hospital close to home with specialists who provide exceptional care and unwavering compassion. No one is more committed to the health and well-being of the children in our community than Dayton Childrenâs. our mission To improve the health status of all children through service, education, research and advocacy. our vision To be the first choice for childrenâs health. snapshot of Dayton Childrenâs 155 patient beds 1 of only 46 freestanding childrenâs hospitals in the country 7,221 admissions 29,540 patient days 80,321 ED visits 2,000 transports 4.09 days average stay 81 average daily census 11,440 total surgeries 16,022 urgent care visits 305,411 total visits people 2,467 total employees 405 physicians, courtesy staff, residents 780 nurses 993 volunteers community support $40,864,522 community benefit $1,786,804 uncompensated care $3,830,459 resident education top 5 inpatient diagnoses 862 asthma/bronchospasm 653 acute bronchiolitis/RSV 388 pneumonia 335 seizure disorders/epilepsy 234 cellulitis/cutaneous abscess top 5 outpatient specialties 29,835 orthopaedics 12,880 gastroenterology 11,453 neurology 8,057 endocrinology 7,562 pulmonology transforming care Physical rehabilitation and medicine program Neuropsychology, allergy and immunology Headache clinic and first seizure program Ulcerative colitis and Crohnâs disease programs First in the nation BandLoc spinal surgery Aerodigestive and chronic hearing loss programs Sleep studies with the latest Cine and 3T MRI technology new faces 28 new subspecialists hired in the past 12 months, including neurosurgery, psychology, gastroenterology, physical rehabilitation and medicine, and cardiology from world-renowned facilities such as Childrenâs Hospital of Pennsylvania and LA Childrenâs....
